Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest as a Critical Care Float Nurse (RN). This role involves delivering direct patient care across various critical care units, including the ICU and Emergency Department, as well as floating to medical-surgical units such as Acute Medical Services, Medical Oncology, Surgical Orthopedics, SSU, Acute Rehab, and Transitional Care Facilities based on organizational needs. General Summary The Critical Care Float Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical expertise relevant to critical care. This position requires adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and a commitment to patient safety and quality outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment. Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections. Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education within established guidelines. Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and support clinical decision-making. Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to comply with standards and facilitate communication. Effectively communicate patient information to physicians and healthcare team members to improve outcomes. Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability. Engage with patients and families to enhance their experience and support health education. Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.
