Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing skilled professional nursing care to assigned terminally ill patients in their place of residence, as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the standards of the nursing. Position Details Minimum Qualifications: Education Graduation from an approved school of nursing. Licensure Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice. Must be a licensed driver. Certification(s): CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Preferred Qualifications: Education: Experience: Recent hospice or long-term care experience • Experience with issues related to death/dying and bereavement. One-year general nursing experience preferred. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Complies with accepted professional standards and practice. Understands Hospice philosophy; principles related to death and dying and pain management. Has excellent observation, good nursing assessment and communication skills. Excellent computer skills with the ability to provide good documentation within an electronic medical record and submits in a timely manner. Is self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision. Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation and has ability to work within an interdisciplinary team. Physical Requirements Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties. Why Mercy?
