Job Description
Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our night shift team within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a key member of a multidisciplinary care team, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care to diverse patient populations in an acute care hospital setting. Working nights, you will independently assess, plan, and implement respiratory therapies, including oxygen administration, aerosol and medication delivery, ventilator management, airway clearance techniques, and patient education. You will interpret physician orders, perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, and utilize evidence-based protocols to support patients with chronic and acute respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma, pneumonia, heart failure, and post-operative respiratory compromise. In this role, you will monitor patients’ responses to therapy, adjust ventilator and respiratory support settings within established guidelines, and promptly recognize and report changes in patient status. You will assist with and manage non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation, respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response calls, and participate in code situations, providing airway management and resuscitation support as needed. Collaboration is central to this position: you will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that align with Piedmont Healthcare’s commitment to safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care. As a night shift RRT at Piedmont Healthcare, you will also be responsible for properly documenting assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record, ensuring accurate and timely communication of clinical information. You will maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, adhere to infection prevention and safety standards, and follow departmental and hospital policies to support high reliability and quality outcomes. You will contribute to a culture of respect, innovation, and teamwork by participating in unit-based initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and ongoing professional development. Piedmont Healthcare offers a supportive and inclusive environment where respiratory therapists are valued members of the care team. Here, you will have opportunities to expand your skills through continuing education, training on advanced respiratory technologies, and exposure to a variety of clinical specialties, including critical care, emergency medicine, and step-down units. Our non-profit mission and statewide network allow you to make a meaningful impact on patients and families while advancing your own career. This night shift role is ideal for RRTs who are self-directed, detail-oriented, comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy at night, and committed to delivering excellent, compassionate respiratory care.
