Job Description
Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our patient-centered care team as a full-time night shift therapist in our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and, when appropriate, pediatric patients across a variety of acute and critical care settings within our non-profit hospital system. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals, you will perform assessments, develop and implement respiratory care plans, and evaluate patient responses in alignment with evidence-based standards and Piedmont’s commitment to quality and safety. As an RRT at Piedmont, you will be responsible for administering aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, chest physiotherapy, and other therapeutic modalities; initiating, managing, and weaning invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation; obtaining and analyzing arterial blood gases; and responding to respiratory emergencies, rapid response calls, and codes during the night shift. You will use advanced respiratory care equipment and electronic medical records to document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely, ensuring clear communication across the interdisciplinary team. Night shift therapists at Piedmont play a key role in maintaining continuity of care, monitoring patients closely for changes in respiratory status, and providing education to patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, equipment use, and discharge needs. You will be expected to follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and support a culture of respect, inclusion, and teamwork. Because Piedmont Healthcare emphasizes professional growth and lifelong learning, you will have access to ongoing training, clinical education, and opportunities to expand your skills in specialty areas such as critical care, emergency medicine, and pulmonary diagnostics. The ideal candidate is a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist who is comfortable working independently on nights, demonstrates sound clinical judgment, and communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues. A strong commitment to patient-centered care, reliability in a 12-hour night shift schedule (including weekends and holidays as needed), and the ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment are essential. By joining Piedmont Healthcare, you will contribute meaningfully to our mission of delivering high-quality, compassionate care across Georgia while advancing your own professional development in a supportive and innovative environment.
