Position Summary The Sales Manager leads and develops our retail flooring sales team, ensuring an exceptional customer experience from first showroom visit through completed installation. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, managing day-to-day sales operations, overseeing showroom hosts, and serving as the primary liaison between the sales team and the Production Manager to ensure seamless project execution. The ideal candidate brings deep product knowledge, proven leadership, and a hands-on approach to customer relationships and job management. Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Team Management Recruit, coach, and develop the flooring sales team to consistently meet and exceed individual and team revenue goals. Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular one-on-ones, pipeline reviews, and performance evaluations. Foster a culture of accountability, customer-first service, and continuous product learning. Oversee and guide showroom hosts, ensuring the showroom is organized, welcoming, and merchandised to brand standards. Customer Engagement & Project Management Personally manage a select portfolio of key and complex accounts, providing consultation from design through installation. Conduct in-home or on-site measurements and assessments to accurately scope projects. Prepare detailed, accurate proposals and quotes using current pricing, labor rates, and material costs. Follow up on open proposals, handle objections, and close sales with a high conversion rate. Oversee the full lifecycle of sales installations — coordinating scheduling, confirming material delivery, and conducting quality checks. Production Liaison Serve as the primary communication bridge between the sales team and the Production Manager to ensure jobs are scheduled, staffed, and completed on time. Proactively communicate job scope changes, special materials, or customer preferences to the production team. Participate in regular production planning meetings and escalate any installation issues that affect customer satisfaction. Showroom & Operations Maintain a showroom environment that reflects current product trends, is well-stocked with samples, and presents the brand professionally. Collaborate with marketing and management on promotions, seasonal campaigns, and vendor events. Monitor sales metrics, pipeline health, and individual rep performance using the company CRM and reporting tools. Assist in setting pricing strategies, reviewing margins, and evaluating vendor product lines. Qualifications & Requirements Required Minimum 10 years of flooring sales experience in a retail or showroom environment. Minimum 3 years in a flooring sales management or lead role. Demonstrated proficiency in measuring jobs (residential and/or commercial) and performing material take-offs. Experience writing proposals, quotes, and contracts, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Hands-on experience overseeing flooring installations — coordinating installers, confirming scope, and managing customer expectations. Strong knowledge of flooring product categories: hardwood, LVP/LVT, carpet, tile, and specialty products. Excellent communication, negotiation, and closing skills. Proficiency with CRM software, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and basic estimating tools. Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Experience with flooring-specific software (Measure Squared, QFloors, RFMS, or similar). Established relationships with vendors, suppliers, or design professionals in the Southern California market. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Compensation & Benefits Based on experience, and ability to increase sales revenues, total salary plus bonus and commissions may range between $85,000 and $145,000 in total compensation.
