JOB SUMMARY: Saw Operator I is the first of three levels of skilled saw operator work. This position requires the ability to use measurement tools. Has knowledge of commonly used sawing material concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under direct supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Meet or exceed DMC cutting standards. Determine which cutting process should be used in a given situation. Use a variety of tools and machines. Calculate the optimum material utilization for each bar and sheet stock and enters cut lengths and quantities into machine control. Clean, cut, and deburr steel. Ensure that material is issued at the end of each shift. Maintains work area in accordance to 5S standards. Report necessary maintenance and repair for equipment used in the sawing department. Must demonstrate a willingness to continue expanding his/her skills by pursuing training and cross training in all areas of the Machine Shop as availability of equipment allows. Responsible for complying with all safety policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
