Sawmill Laborer

Job Summary:The Sawmill Laborer is a full-time position Sawmill Laborer at our facility in Springfield, NH.The Sawmill Laborer will rotate between various areas of the mill, such as the Edger, Gang Resaw, and Stenner Resaws.The hours and days of operation are Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, however, the hours of operation may change based on production needs.Duties/Responsibilities:Performed general labor duties throughout the sawmill, including handling lumber and operating equipment as trained to support continuous production flow.Maintained a consistent pace with daily production demands and assisted with equipment operation and monitoring as needed.Kept work areas and surrounding spaces clean, organized, and free of debris to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive environment.Removed waste materials, swept production areas, and ensured proper housekeeping throughout the mill.Conducted all activities in a safe manner by following corporate safety procedures, using required PPE, and proactively identifying or reporting unsafe conditions.Collaborated effectively with team members to meet production targets and support smooth operations.Completed additional tasks and special assignments as directed by management.Required Skills/Abilities:Operate equipment safely and responsibly Organized with attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team Promote a safe working environment and follow all workplace and job safety procedures Education and Experience:High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) (Preferred) Equipment Operating Experience Sawmill experience (preferred) Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of standing and walking Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move to reach, clean, and service machinery Must be able to inspect machines visually Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Work Environment:Indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and all-weather conditions Walking on slippery or uneven surfaces from time to time Hearing protection is required in certain areas of the facility Benefits:We offer competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid vacations and holidays, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, Life insurance, AD&D Insurance, Short Term Disability Insurance, Employee Discounts, and 401K.Company Description:Durgin and Crowell is a large Eastern white pine lumber and wood pellet manufacturing facility in Springfield, NH.Since our founding in 1976, we have grown to be a leader in the industry with a reputation for providing quality products and excellent customer service.Durgin and Crowell support sustainable forestry and strong relationships within our community.Part of the Sawmill Laborer job will be other tasks/duties as assigned or as necessary.This job description, as written for the position of Sawmill Laborer at Durgin & Crowell Co.Inc.is an accurate reflection of the essential job functions for this position.This job description Job Type:Full-time Benefits:401(k) AD&D insurance Dental insurance Disability insurance Employee discount Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location:In person.
