Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description This role seeks an experienced Controls Engineer to join there team within the wastewater and water industry. The engineer will design, implement, and support control systems with a particular focus on PLCs, SCADA, and the Inductive Automation Ignition platform, ensuring reliable and efficient operation of plant processes and clean technology systems. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain PLC-based control systems for wastewater and water treatment processes. Configure, program, and troubleshoot PLC controls, logic circuits, and associated electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. Implement, configure, and support SCADA systems, with a strong emphasis on the Inductive Automation Ignition platform. Apply electrical engineering and controls engineering principles to optimize plant operations and system performance. Collaborate with plant engineering teams to integrate control systems with existing wastewater and water treatment infrastructure. Support the deployment and operation of clean technology and CO2 technology systems through robust control solutions. Develop and maintain system documentation, including control logic descriptions, schematics, and configuration records. Diagnose and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability. Communicate clearly in English, both in writing and verbally, to document work, share technical information, and coordinate with cross-functional teams. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience working with PLC controls, including programming, troubleshooting, and optimization. 5+ years of experience with logic circuits, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment in an industrial or plant environment. Strong controls engineering and instrumentation experience in the wastewater and water industry. Hands-on experience with the Inductive Automation Ignition platform or comparable SCADA systems. Proficiency in controls engineering, including system design, implementation, and support. Ability to read, write, and understand the English language with excellent proficiency. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree. Demonstrated experience in plant engineering within wastewater or wastewater treatment facilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SCADA systems in addition to Ignition. Experience in clean technology and CO2 technology systems. Strong electrical engineering knowledge applicable to industrial plant operations. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary plant and engineering teams. Strong documentation and organizational skills to maintain accurate system records. Motivation to grow professionally and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
