WAGE RANGE:$22.00-$27.00/hour CLOSING DATE:Applications Reviewed Daily.ABRAMS PARK:Located at the end of Division Street off N 5th Avenue near Union Ridge Elementary School, this 40-acre park features a children's play area, horseshoe pit, baseball, softball and soccer fields, a 9-hole disc golf course with multiple uphill and downhill holes, a permanent orienteering course and a large area for playing volleyball.The Park also has a picnic shelter, Bennett Hall, with tables and kitchen facilities by reservation only.POSITION DESCRIPTION:Abrams Park Caretaker is a full-time seasonal position, June through September.The desired work week will be 10-hour shifts Friday through Monday.There may be some required overtime due to events at Abrams Park.The Park Caretaker performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks in the landscaping and maintenance of the grounds and buildings in Abrams Park.The primary duties include but are not limited to:Landscaping and maintenance of grounds, trails and open space areas at Abrams Park:mowing, fertilizing, pruning, undergrowth containment, weeding, trimming, removal of fallen trees and limbs in pathways and other related tasks.Monitor and maintain order in Abrams Park by enforcement of park and facility rules, regulations and procedures.Janitorial and custodial tasks for restrooms and Bennett Hall.Prepare Bennett Hall for group reservations, and clean-up following the reservation.Perform security checks of the park at the beginning and the end of the day.Upon discovery, immediately report any acts of vandalism or potential vandalism to the proper authorities.Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities.Clean restrooms and pick up litter around parks.Perform general maintenance and repair of park and recreational facilities.Perform other duties reasonably required of a Park Caretaker.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities may be considered.A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:Education:Completion of High School or equivalent.Experience:Experience in landscaping preferred.Age:Minimum 18 years of age.License:Possession of a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.Skills, Knowledge and abilities:The ability to operate mowers trucks, power tools and small equipment and utilize a variety of hand and power tools in park landscape maintenance work.Assist in routine maintenance of the equipment.Demonstrated communication skills including carrying out oral and written directions; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, visitors at the park and other employees of the organization.Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little or no supervision.Work Environment:Administrative Duties - Approximately 10% of work time.Fixing/Repairing/Maintenance duties - Approximately 90% of work time.Walking -Frequently Prolonged standing - Frequently Bend/twist/stoop - Frequently Squat/Kneel - Frequently Pushing/Pulling - Frequently Overhead work/Reach above shoulder level - Occasionally Lifting/Carrying 11-20 pounds -Frequently Lifting/Carrying 21-50 pounds - Frequently Lifting/Carrying more than 50 pounds - Occasionally Operate or work near moving machinery - Frequently Drive automative equipment - Occasionally Working with dust - Frequently Working with chemicals - Occasionally Eyesight, including near acuity and depth perception - Frequently All employees are expected to work in a manner consistent with the City of Ridgefield's Team Philosophy:work diligently to provide quality service and make a better community; with accountability, reliability, and integrity; be innovative, efficient, proactive, and adaptive; work as a cohesive team with compassion, leadership, and professionalism; and know how to have fun.EMPLOYEE Benefits:As a seasonal employee with the City of Ridgefield, you are eligible for holiday pay if a recognized City holiday falls on your regularly scheduled workday.Additionally, you will receive 40 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) and accrue 4 hours of sick leave per pay period.The City also offers an Employee Assistance Program to support your well-being.Enrollment in the Washington State Retirement System (PERS) is automatic.HOW TO APPLY:Interested candidates must submit the following materials:A completed Application for Employment.A resume.Finalists will be invited to recruitment activities scheduled to take place in Ridgefield.References will be contacted following candidate approval.The final candidate will be required to successfully complete a background investigation.More information about the Public Works Department is available on the City's website at www.ridgefieldwa.us or by calling Human Resources 360-887-3557.The City of Ridgefield is an equal op
