Seasonal Gardener

Southern Highlands Reserve in Lake Toxaway, NC, is seeking a seasonal gardener to work a flexible schedule from March through November.The seasonal gardener will perform a wide variety of general garden and manual labor tasks such as bed maintenance (including carrying and spreading compost, manure and mulch), trail maintenance (including spreading rock), raking, weeding, planting, pruning, and possibly some greenhouse work.Southern Highlands Reserve is a native plant arboretum and research center dedicated to sustaining the natural ecosystems of the Blue Ridge Mountains.We accomplish this mission through the preservation, cultivation, and display of plants native to the region, and by advocating for their value through education, restoration, and research.Located in Western North Carolina at an elevation of 4,500 feet, the varied topography and forest types found on our 120 acres emulate the plant communities found in the higher reaches of the Southern Appalachian Mountains.Southern Highlands Reserve is aIso a leader in conservation, growing rare and endangered species for regional landscape restoration projects.Job Type:Temporary Pay:$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Work Location:In person.
