The City of Dublin offers seasonal maintenance job opportunities in many of our public service-oriented divisions.Successful candidates gain valuable knowledge and experience through training, both on the job and through formal instruction, while working with a highly tenured and expert staff.Pay Rate Information Starting pay rate for new hires is $17.00/hour Starting pay rate for new hires with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is $20.40/hour Per our policy, employees are hired into the established wage structure and therefore pay is non-negotiable Returning employees will progress to the next step in our wage structure to receive a raise with each year of consecutive service Individuals that obtain their CDL while employed with us will be eligible for a pay increase, pending all DOT requirements are met Scheduling/Availability Working hours are Monday-Friday, 6:45am-3:15pm Short-term and long-term schedules are available up to 40 hours per week through December 2026 Note:This is a part-time/seasonal position that is not eligible for comprehensive benefits coverage such as vacation/sick leave, health, vision or dental insurance.Beyond the Paycheck Ohio Public Employee Retirement System (OPERS) enrollment and contributions Potential Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility Support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 20% discount on classes and free textbooks at Franklin University Discounts on memberships at the Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC) Employee recognition and appreciation events throughout the summer Discounted/free employee participation in select City events (Memorial Golf Tournament, Dublin Irish Festival, etc.) Uniforms provided Career mapping and growth opportunities Examples of Duties These positions require working outdoors in all weather conditions, performing light to heavy manual labor and maintenance work, as well as operating a variety of hand tools and power equipment.Specific duties of Horticulture Seasonal Maintenance Workers include, but are not limited to:Planting, pruning and general maintenance of all landscape plants located in Dublin parks (this includes all trees, shrubs, perennials and annual plant material) Mulching landscape beds located in Dublin parks Watering newly installed plant material Fertilizer and pesticide application in landscape beds Operation of several pieces of equipment with all training provided Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Possession of a valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Previous landscape maintenance and/or horticulture experience Availability to work through December 2026 Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) H.S.Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent certificate Physical Requirements Candidates must successfully complete and pass a physical ability/lift test as a condition of hire Physical strength, agility, and endurance to perform all essential functions Ability to transfer and carry heavy objects Ability to exert in excess of 75-125 lbs.of force occasionally and/or up to 50-100 lbs.of force frequently Ability to maneuver over/under equipment and in small work areas while performing essential functions Ability to dig, bend, lift, and work in confined spaces Ability to demonstrate dexterity in the use of hands and feet Ability to walk long distances and/or work while standing for long periods of time Ability to perform tasks requiring stooping, bending, climbing ladders/stairs, etc.Ability to operate a variety of light and medium motorized vehicles Ability to work under emergency conditions in support of fire and police operations Ability to utilize appropriate protective clothing and equipment around hazardous chemicals/conditions Ability to utilize necessary protective clothing and equipment to avoid potential dangers from pesticides Supplemental Information:All positions within this job classification have been designated as Casual in nature and all employees serving in such positions are considered to be Casual Employees.Casual employees serve strictly at the pleasure of the City and their employment may be terminated at any time for any reason, with or without cause.THE CITY OF DUBLIN IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Drug-Free Workplace The City of Dublin is a drug-free workplace (AO 2.35) which prohibits the use of controlled substances including marijuana.As permitted by law and in accordance with City Policy, new hires must pass a pre-employment drug test before appointment to any City position.Please note, this position may be subject to addition
