POSITION TITLE: Recreation Leader II – Mobile Recreation Senior Leader (Temporary) DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation REPORTS TO: Mobile Recreation Manager EXEMPT STATUS: FLSA Non-Exempt position; eligible for overtime compensation SALARY RANGE: $21.18 - $26.80 per hour DOE The Mobile Recreation Senior Leader assists the Manager with coordinating day-to-day operations, leading activities, mentoring other leaders, and serving as a key point of contact for program needs. This is a seasonal position, eligible to work up to 5 months, and may work an irregular schedule that includes some evenings and weekends as dictated by City programs and special events. Sr Leader job description) Provides on-site leadership and instruction to program participants in the mobile recreation program, during special events, or day camp activities such as games, sports, arts & crafts, songs, dance, and drama Assists Mobile Recreation Manager with the planning, implementation, and coordination of the Mobile Recreation Program while maintaining a safe, fun, and enriching environment for all participants and staff Perform set-up for special events, mobile rec program, Camp Wild, and the boat rental program. This may include but is not limited to, setting up chairs and tables, games, cleaning boats, and moving equipment while ensuring the area is safe for participants Assists with marketing and program promotion for the Mobile Recreation Program, City-sponsored special events in addition to representing the City at other community events Responds calmly and effectively to emergency situations, following and enforcing emergency procedures and regulations. Ensure the safety of program participants, co-workers, and the public by following City policies and procedures. If necessary, provide first aid. Complete and submit appropriate accident/incident records and forms Maintains records including timesheets, weekly attendance reports, volunteer registrations, camper records, and accident reports etc., Act in a leadership role over an assigned program in the absence of the on-site supervisor. Assist with the supervision of volunteers, staff, and program participants to meet the needs of the program or event Performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of recreation programs. Completes and maintains proper forms, reports, and information for the program Prepare documents such as letters, program evaluation forms, memos, accident reports, and rosters. Ensure a safe and clean facility for participants, including making recommendations for improvement and performing light custodial duties Clean up the activity area and return equipment to proper storage areas, turn off all equipment, lights, stereo, electronics, perform minor custodial duties, and properly secure area at the end of a work shift Responds to customer questions and provides information to staff and participants regarding program registration, scheduling, and fees Provide excellent internal and external customer service. Create a positive experience for patrons through professional and courteous behavior Ensure all participants are registered (if required) and maintain accurate attendance records. Assist in evaluating program success and make recommendations. Distribute program evaluation forms to participants Determine program equipment and supply needs. Assist with the distribution, care, use, and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Maintain supply and equipment inventories Enforce City policies and procedures, resolve day-to-day problems as they arise, and assist supervisors with resolving issues Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Work flexible hours, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and split shifts Perform work with little or no direct supervision Consistently exhibit tact, courtesy, reliability, and maturity while carrying out assigned duties and working with customers Handle multiple requests for assistance in an organized manner.
