POSITION SUMMARY Nature Works is an Natural Resource Management company based in Shepherdstown, WV.We are seeking full, part, and flex time conservation crew members.The Natural Resource Tech candidate will be looking for a Purpose Driven career working as part of a team to conduct a variety of conservation and restoration activities, including invasive plant control, forest and meadow restoration, hazardous fuel mitigation, prescribed fire, tree and shrub plantings, and ecological mapping and inventory projects.Work will also involve extensive outdoor physical labor in diverse weather conditions.Applicants must be self-starters with strong technical, mechanical, and physical abilities.A flexible schedule is required.Wildland firefighting training (FFT2) and/or commercial herbicide applicators license preferred.This position is supervised by a Lead Tech and is an entry level position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Natural Resource Technician will be performing activities including, but not limited to, the following: Working within a range of outdoor environments and field conditions and following assignments closely- Following safety guidelines and precautions specified for particular work and vehicle operations- Performing physical work for extended periods, under adverse conditions and in all extremes of weather- Operating and maintain a range of equipment, machinery and off-road vehicles, such as 4x4 pickups, ATV's, tractor, trailers, pumps, hoses, chain saws and hand tools. Traveling to project sites, maintaining a flexible work schedule, and occasionally overnight travel. Safely implementing conservation practices including hazardous fuel reductions, forest restoration, native meadow installation, native tree and planting, invasive control, and prescribed fire. Follow company standard operating procedures REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - High school diploma or greater. Excellent verbal communication skills- Positive attitude.-Grit - Strong work ethic with a commitment to conservation- Valid driver's license and safe driving record- Ability to successfully complete Arduous pack test. Be able to lift 50 lbs PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Knowledge of farms and forests.-Driving offroad and towing trailers - Wildland Fire experience and/or certificates- Chainsaw and small engine experience. UTV and ATV experience. Experience with natural plant communities and habitats of the Mid-Atlantic- Experience operating various types of hand tools and equipment-General equipment maintenance experience ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION- Occasional overnight and/or extended periods (1-3 days) away from home may be required COMPENSATION - Pay ranging from $15-$20/ hour and is commensurate with experience- Food and lodging will be provided on extended mobilizations- Paid training.The more you Learn-the More you Earn.
