Estabrook's is a family owned and operated garden center with a year round location in Yarmouth, Maine and a seasonal location in Kennebunk Maine.With close to 30 growing greenhouses and a new state of the art production growing range in Pownal, Maine, Estabrook's not only offers high quality products, but is a local destination for design consultations, landscaping needs and bulk goods for your garden projects.Estabrook's is a retail business open seven days a week.Hourly positions vary from Seasonal to Year-Round and can be part-time or full-time covering weekdays and weekends.Our retail space is located inside and outside, and our offices are on the first and second floors of older buildings with only stairs.Benefits are available for Year-Round staff working 30 or more hours per week.We are looking for a Seasonal Retail Sales Associate.The position requires a polite, friendly manner and positive attitude.Interest in plants and/or gardening is a plus but not required.Position Requirements:Field questions about our products, availability, services and general inquiries in a polite and friendly manner.Assist with basic gardening questions and help provide follow up for more involved requests.Acquire and maintain knowledge of POS system and store policies and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient handling of retail sales.Acquire and continuously develop product knowledge including plant identification, care and plant placement, hardware, pesticides, soils, etc.Ability to sell additional related/supplementary products to customers to ensure maximum plant growth.Receive, stock, store, rotate and inventory retail merchandise.Identify and communicate low-stock product and supply needs.Track customer special requests to inform product buyers.Set up and maintain seasonal displays.Design displays with customer appeal to promote time sensitive sales, high volume and featured products.Display appropriate signage in-store to promote sales and provide accurate customer information.Keep retail space clean, vacuumed and swept.Follow appropriate procedures and provide oversight for the safety and security of the product.Follow safe work practices and monitor physical areas to ensure a safe environment for customers and employees.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills & Competencies:Strong verbal and active listening skills.Ability to quickly determine customer needs, devise and present solutions.Project a positive attitude about our products and services.Familiarity with computers.Ability to work in a team environment.Strong attention to detail.Highly dependable.Ability to work overtime as necessary to meet peak season needs.Weekday and weekend availability.Interest in plants and/or gardening is a plus but not required.Retail experience a plus Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift and carry material weighing up to 30 lbs unassisted.The work involves frequent walking, bending, stooping, twisting Associates spend much of their time on their feet handling material and moving continually.You must be able to work in all weather conditions both inside and outside (heat, cold, rain, etc.) Frequent lifting, carrying and maneuvering of material requires good overall physical strength and flexibility.This includes frequent bending, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing and pulling of material up to 30 pounds.Work Environment:Retail space is located inside and outside.Fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.It is the policy of Estabrook's to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.Pay:From $18.00 per hour Benefits:Employee discount Paid time off Work Location:In person.
