Job Summary The Campus Security Corporal is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. They oversee security personnel, enforce campus policies, respond to incidents, and assist in emergency situations. The security corporal serves as a shift supervisor, providing guidance to security officers and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.The Security Corporal must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, exhibit professionalism, and support the safety and security of the campus community. Responsibilities Conduct regular patrols of the campus on foot, by bicycle, or in a vehicle to ensure a safe and secure environment and report any unsafe conditions to on duty law enforcement. Monitor security cameras and alarm systems to identify and respond to suspicious activities. Check buildings and facilities to ensure doors, windows, and gates are secure. Unlock or lock buildings as needed. Respond promptly to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fires, and security breaches. Perform rescue functions during accidents, emergencies, and disasters, including directing traffic for extended periods, administering emergency medical aid, lifting, dragging, and removing individuals from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from affected areas. Provide assistance during evacuations and other emergency procedures. Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of security activities. Enforce university policies and regulations. Investigate and document incidents of crime, misconduct, or suspicious behavior, and collaborate with law enforcement as necessary. Build and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Participate in safety and security awareness programs and provide information on crime prevention. Offer assistance and information to individuals in need, enhancing the sense of community on campus. Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, including shift reports and incident documentation. Comply with Campus Security Authority responsibilities under the Clery Act. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. No felony or other disqualifying criminal convictions. Possession of a valid Georgia driver's license. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Two years of related or a combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Strong observational and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively. Proficiency with computer skills for report writing, monitoring security systems, and general administrative duties. Must have the ability to maintain awareness of surroundings and be alert to potential safety problems. Effective customer service skills. Knowledge of basic safety and crime-prevention practices, customer service principles, and basic fire-prevention methods.
