Role Overview The Security Engineer will join a growing cybersecurity team responsible for protecting a sophisticated trading and data platform used within institutional financial markets. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex security challenges, analyzing system vulnerabilities, and designing solutions that protect sensitive financial data and infrastructure. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with analytical thinking to monitor threats, strengthen defenses, and improve the organization’s security posture across cloud, network, and application environments. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot complex systems, and the capacity to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Key Responsibilities Security Architecture & Protection Design, implement, and maintain security controls that safeguard critical infrastructure, financial data, and platform services. Oversee the deployment and configuration of security technologies to ensure that networks, systems, and applications remain resilient against emerging threats. Infrastructure & Network Security Support and maintain core security infrastructure including firewalls, VPN systems, intrusion detection and prevention technologies, secure web gateways, and data loss prevention systems. Ensure these tools operate effectively and evolve to address new threat landscapes. Threat Detection & Incident Response Monitor systems for potential threats or suspicious activity and respond quickly to security incidents affecting systems or networks. Investigate breaches, analyze attack vectors, and coordinate remediation efforts to restore secure operations. Vulnerability Management Conduct regular security assessments to identify weaknesses within infrastructure and applications. Evaluate risks, prioritize remediation activities, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. Security Operations & Monitoring Utilize monitoring and analytics platforms such as SIEM tools and endpoint security technologies to detect anomalies and maintain visibility into the organization’s security posture. Operational Support & Change Management Participate in system and infrastructure change processes to ensure security considerations are integrated into new deployments and updates. Provide documentation, reporting, and communication to technical and operational teams. Continuous Learning & Improvement Remain current with evolving cybersecurity threats, defensive technologies, and regulatory expectations within financial services. Contribute insights that help strengthen the overall security strategy and operational resilience. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Professional Experience At least two years of hands-on experience in one or more cybersecurity domains such as application security, cloud security, vulnerability management, network defense, SIEM monitoring, endpoint protection, or incident detection and response. Technical Knowledge Strong familiarity with modern security infrastructure including firewalls, VPN technologies, intrusion detection or prevention systems, secure web proxies, and data protection solutions. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems, investigate security issues, and implement effective remediation strategies. Work Style Ability to thrive in a fast-moving technology environment while maintaining precision, accountability, and strong attention to detail. Preferred Technical Skills Experience with application security testing tools such as Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST). Experience implementing infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
