Security & Guest Experience Associate – Ohana Gardens Collective Full-Time | $18-19 per hour + tips Must have Guard Card Ohana Cannabis, a licensed and compliant cannabis dispensary in Santa Cruz, is seeking a professional, personable Security & Guest Experience Associate to join our team. This role goes beyond traditional security—you will serve as the first point of contact for our customers , creating a warm, welcoming experience while maintaining a safe and compliant environment. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in being part of the team, leads with professionalism, and contributes to a positive store culture. Position Overview As a key member of our team, you will combine security awareness with strong customer service , ensuring every guest feels welcomed, respected, and safe from the moment they arrive. This is an active, team-oriented role for someone who is approachable, observant, and reliable. Key Responsibilities Greet all customers with a warm, professional, and welcoming presence Serve as the first impression of the store , setting the tone for the customer experience Verify identification in full compliance with California cannabis regulations Maintain a visible and proactive security presence throughout the premises Monitor entrances, exits, and surrounding areas to ensure safety and prevent unauthorized access Conduct routine patrols of the store and exterior areas, including parking lots Respond to situations calmly and professionally, escalating when necessary Maintain detailed logs of daily activity, incidents, and compliance observations Support store staff and contribute as a team player to overall operations Balance a friendly, approachable demeanor with strong situational awareness Follow all BSIS and Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) regulations and company policies Qualifications Valid California Guard Card (Required) 1+ year of professional security experience (retail or customer-facing preferred) Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests Excellent communication and interpersonal skills High attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure Dependable, punctual, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (8+ hours) Must be 21+ and authorized to work in the U.S. What We Value Professionalism, reliability, and strong follow-through A team-first mindset—you’re part of the store, not separate from it Emotional intelligence and the ability to create a positive guest experience A balance of security presence and hospitality Preferred (not mandatory) Experience in hospitality, customer service, or guest-facing roles (hotel, concierge, restaurant, etc. Ohana Cannabis is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
