Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team for 3 days a week in office. This individual will play a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. The Senior Accountant will contribute to the overall success of the organization by ensuring compliance with US GAAP, companies policies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Ledger Maintenance: Maintain A/R and A/P sub-ledgers, including retrieving source documents, validation, and reconciliation against transactions posted in the accounting system. Journal Entries and Reconciliations: Prepare and record monthly journal entries. Maintain certain balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial statements, identifying and explaining variances. Track and report on key metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives. Tax Compliance: Manage all aspects of sales and use tax, including preparing and filing returns and remitting sales tax. Financial Reporting: Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reporting using Excel and other tools. Ensure accurate accounting of vendor rebate income and other corporate-level accounts in collaboration with Corporate Accounting. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate across functions and with national counterparts at other TriMark divisions to accomplish objectives. Regularly interact with management, auditors, support staff, and outside stakeholders. COMPETENCIES: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and processes. Experience with percentage of completion JD Edwards Experience Inventory experience and some Job Costing Solid mathematical skills with the ability to reconcile accounts. Proven ability to take direction, learn quickly, and remain flexible in a dynamic environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks to meet timelines in a fast-paced environment. Independent thinker with demonstrated sound judgment. Analytical ability and intellectual curiosity to understand business drivers, root cause analysis, and trends for identifying potential errors, risks, and areas for continuous improvement. Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 4 - 6 years of relevant experience in accounting, or equivalent Military or practical experience. Preferred experience in Construction/Design Build accounting. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLookup, etc.). Experience with multiple ERP platforms. CPA is preferred but not required. Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.
