Principal Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for investigating and negotiating 1st-party commercial property claims to resolution. Retain and monitor outside adjustors and attorneys as needed, including possible litigation. Answer and return phone calls from attorneys, claimants, and other contacts. Develop and manage litigation plan with outside contacts. Obtain information regarding each claim and evaluate coverage, liability, and damages. Complete and settle property claims with insureds in accordance with recommended best practices guidelines and limits of authority. Assist in other duties as needed. Education & Experience Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field 4+ years of related experience OR equivalent level of education and experience Commercial property desk adjuster experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies Ability to use analytical methods in the claim examining processes to find workable solutions. Ability to generate innovative solutions within the claims department. Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to internal contacts on claim matters. Ability to use software to summarize and analyze large amounts of data. Compensation Overview The base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs.
