Job Description
As a member of the Legal team, the Senior Counsel - Employment and Litigation (CC) is a core member of UL Solutions' legal function. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Litigation and Disputes (ACG), the CC will work closely with Human Resources (HR) and with other business leaders to coordinate and assist on the following matters within the Chief Legal Office (CLO). Advise HR and relevant business stakeholders on day-to-day employment matters, including wage and overtime standards, privacy rights, employee benefits, employee agreements and policies, employee performance management, discipline, termination, and investigations pertaining to allegations of harassment and discrimination. Assist in the coordination of legal advice to HR and relevant business stakeholders on employment-related laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, National Labor Relations Act, Occupation Health and Safety Act, state worker's compensation laws, and related laws, as well as relevant employment-related laws in other jurisdictions. Manage global docket of potential and active employment-related litigation and administrative agency matters. Monitor and analyze developments in employment laws and regulations, assess risk, and recommend strategies to support proactive compliance. Coordinate management of external counsel, as necessary, in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with CLO Billing guidelines. Coordinate third-party vendors retained by UL Solutions on any litigation or dispute matters. Perform other legal duties as directed by the ACG or other CLO leadership.
