Job Description
Senior Dog Groomer | Boutique Salon | Raleigh, NC Position Type: Full-time or part-time, flexible schedule with weekend availability required Compensation: Commission plus tips. Senior groomers averaging 6 - 8 dogs per day typically earn $60K to $75K+ annually. Full benefits package included (with sharpening benefits included). Job Summary Woofinwaggle is a boutique grooming salon and pet boutique in Raleigh, not a volume shop. We groom thoughtfully, with care, in a well-run space. Our clients are loyal, our products are exceptional, and our team is small, supportive, and serious about the craft. We're looking for an experienced groomer who works independently, takes pride in their work, and wants to settle into a salon that does grooming the right way. You don't just trim. You read the dog, the coat, and the conversation with the parent. You don't just clear your schedule. You make every dog look like they were styled with intention. You don't just come to work. You bring presence to a small team that genuinely depends on each other. This is a hands-on role for a senior groomer who wants steady work, fair pay, and a salon that respects the skill it takes to do this well. What you'll do Independently groom 6 to 8 dogs per day, including breed-specific cuts, hand scissoring, de-matting, and complex coat types. Work confidently across a wide range of breeds, ages, and temperaments, including seniors, large breeds/dogs, and doodles (we see a lot of doodles, and we believe they deserve thoughtful, well-executed cuts not just shave downs), Cavaliers and more! Communicate warmly and clearly with pet parents about their dog's grooming, any health observations, and rebooking. Send out a pup report after each groom. Make smart judgment calls on timing, dog welfare, and client expectations without needing direction. Identify health concerns (ear infections, skin conditions, dental issues) and communicate them caringly to pet parents. Maintain a clean, organized grooming station and contribute to the daily rhythm of the shop. Who we're looking for You should bring 5+ years of professional grooming experience, with demonstrated ability to handle 6 to 7 dogs per day independently Strong scissor work and confidence across a wide range of coat types and breed standards Calm, capable handling of dogs of all sizes and temperaments Genuine warmth with pet parents and the kind of communication that builds trust A high standard for your own work, and the judgment to know when something needs more time, a different approach, or a conversation with the parent You'll thrive here if You're tired of high-volume environments where dogs feel like a number You take pride in the craft and want to work somewhere that values it You appreciate a small, supportive team where everyone has each other's back You want clients that keep coming back for our warmth & care – a chance to build relationships with customers and their pups What we offer Commission plus tips Steady client volume in a salon that's been building for years Top-tier products: human-grade and certified USDA organic Well-maintained equipment and a clean, calm shop environment Full benefits: 401K, medical, dental, vision, free telehealth, free sharpening for tools Continuing education, expo trips, and ongoing investment in your craft A small, family-run business that treats its team with the same care it gives the dogs Why Woofinwaggle? We're a family-run, dog-loving business that believes boutique care applies to people, pets, and team members alike. We value Quality work, done thoughtfully A calm, respectful environment for both dogs and humans A supportive team where people genuinely help each other Honesty, trust, and clear communication Room to grow and develop as a professional This is the salon where strong groomers come to do their best work and stay.
