Job Description
Data Center Design & Reliability Engineer Overview We are looking for an experienced engineer to help shape the next generation of high-performance data centers. In this role, you will combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic design thinking to enhance the availability, efficiency, and resilience of mission-critical facilities. You’ll work across disciplines, regions, and projects, driving solutions that power some of the most demanding digital infrastructures in the world. What You’ll Do Review and validate designs, equipment submittals, and engineering documentation for new data center builds in your region. Lead troubleshooting efforts, perform detailed Root Cause Analyses (RCA), and develop Corrective Action (CA) plans to prevent recurrence of system or equipment failures. Provide direct support during operational events, including real-time issue resolution, procedure reviews, and ad-hoc training for site teams. Own and deliver upgrade projects to existing facilities—improving capacity, efficiency, and system reliability through innovative design solutions. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—design engineering, hardware, safety, and operations—to ensure consistent standards and best practices across all facilities. Oversee and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, often spanning different geographies and timelines. Lead comprehensive engineering site audits and develop actionable reports outlining risks, remediation strategies, and long-term improvements. Act as a resident engineer on new construction efforts, supporting build phases, commissioning activities, and final turnover to operations. About You Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Strong engineering judgment and the ability to provide clear recommendations even under conditions of ambiguity. Proven track record in problem-solving using engineered solutions that scale. Experience managing complex engineering projects and coordinating external consultants. Skilled at building trust and fostering collaboration with diverse stakeholders—operations, design, construction, commissioning, and program management. Hands-on approach with a willingness to spend time in the field observing and resolving issues directly. Comfortable balancing both office-based design work and on-site technical engagement. Preferred Skills & Experience Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage budgets effectively. Experience with mission-critical facilities, particularly data centers, across design, construction, operations, or maintenance phases. Background as a resident engineer, owner’s engineer, or design consultant with solid knowledge of building codes and regulations in your region. Ability to interpret and create construction drawings, specifications, and submittals; capable of driving design concepts from initial exploration through to deployment. Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems critical to data centers, including UPS systems, diesel generators, switchgear, PDUs, VFDs, ATS/STS, chillers, cooling towers, CRAHs, fans, and water treatment systems. Experience with control systems (EPMS, SCADA, BMS) and their integration into facility operations. Benefits Competitive total compensation, including cash and equity. Retirement or pension program aligned with local practices. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage. Generous paid time off policy in line with regional standards. This is a rare opportunity to apply your engineering expertise at the intersection of design, operations, and reliability. If you thrive in environments where precision and scalability are critical, and where your work directly impacts the backbone of global digital infrastructure, we’d love to connect with you.
