About the Opportunity The Senior Engineering Manager, Builder Tools leads a team dedicated to creating a frictionless, standardized ecosystem of engineering and AI tools that empower developers across the organization. This role acts as an internal partner to accelerate the safe and effective adoption of AI, balancing speed and reliability by removing workflow barriers and building scalable solutions. The position ensures measurable business impact by defining strategies for AI-assisted development and managing internal AI platforms. Responsibilities Define engineering-wide approach for safe and effective AI-assisted workflows, including tooling standards and rollout strategy. Identify and eliminate friction in developer workflows, delivering reliable and well-supported tools. Own strategy and execution for internal AI agent runtimes and developer-facing systems, including vendor evaluation and integration. Manage governance, cost, and measurement of AI tooling using clear metrics and frameworks to align improvements with business outcomes. Requirements Strong bias toward action, curiosity, and focus on impact. Experience leading teams in developer productivity, internal platforms, or engineering tooling. Proven ability to drive adoption of new workflows and platforms across engineering organizations. Skilled at influencing across boundaries without direct ownership. Strong coaching and feedback capabilities to foster engineer growth and quality delivery. Experience evaluating and deploying AI coding tools, developer assistants, or LLM-based workflows. Intuition for build versus buy decisions and standardization without hindering innovation. Solid software engineering background in backend, platform, or developer tools. Familiarity with modern developer workflows and supporting systems. Ability to engage in technical discussions about system design, safety, operational readiness, and tradeoffs. Capacity to translate ambiguous needs into clear guidance and systems. Empathy for developers and non-traditional builders. Experience prioritizing and communicating based on measurable impact. Nice to Have Experience building measurement systems for tooling outcomes such as adoption, reliability, cycle time, cost-to-serve, and AI spend. Compensation & Benefits Compensation Estimated Salary Range: $284,000 - $383,400 per year (depending on experience and location). This role is eligible to participate in the company’s equity plan.
