Job Description
A well-established wealth management firm is seeking a Senior Financial Planner to join its growing team in McLean. This role is ideal for a highly technical planner who enjoys working on complex client situations and delivering comprehensive financial plans. This is not a sales role and does not require business development or building a book of business. The focus is on developing high-quality financial plans, supporting advisors, and enhancing the overall client experience through thoughtful, strategic planning. Position Summary The Senior Financial Planner acts as a technical expert and key contributor to the planning process, partnering closely with advisors and clients. This individual will lead the development of sophisticated financial plans, contribute to planning strategy, and serve as a resource for more junior team members. This role requires participation in client meetings for planning-related discussions and a strong ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable recommendations. Key Responsibilities Develop comprehensive, customized financial plans for high-net-worth and complex client situations Collaborate with lead advisors to ensure alignment between planning recommendations and overall client strategy Participate in client meetings to present and explain financial plans and planning concepts Serve as a subject matter expert across areas such as tax strategies, retirement planning, estate considerations, equity compensation, and education planning Provide guidance and informal mentorship to junior planners and support team development Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes, standards, and best practices Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and planning strategies Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Financial Planning, or related field 3+ years of experience in financial planning Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation required Skills & Expertise Deep understanding of core financial planning disciplines Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities High attention to detail with strong follow-through Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively Experience with financial planning software and Microsoft Office Suite View the full list of our open positions here: Main Line Search Job Openings
