Senior Information Technology Specialist EMS-CHEMIE (Business Unit EMS-GRIVORY) Sumter, South Carolina, United States About the Company EMS-CHEMIE engages in the manufacture and distribution of polymers and other chemicals. About the Role We are seeking an experienced candidate for the role of Senior Information Technology Specialist in our North American corporate headquarters in Sumter, SC. This role is ideal for an experienced IT professional who enjoys working across a broad technical environment and is interested in growing into a future leadership position. You will play a key role in maintaining day-to-day IT operations, supporting end users, and assisting with infrastructure and systems administration. Over time, this position offers the opportunity to expand responsibilities into project leadership, strategic planning, and IT management. Responsibilities Provide Tier II/III support for end-user hardware and software (Windows 10/11, desktops, laptops, peripherals) Administer and support core IT systems including Active Directory, SCCM, and VPN access Assist with Microsoft Dynamics NAV application support and SQL database administration Support network and infrastructure components including Cisco networking, Fortinet firewalls, and VMware environments Maintain and support VoIP/PBX systems, email platforms (HCL Notes), and endpoint security tools Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution to ensure uptime and performance Assist with backups, disaster recovery processes, and security best practices Manage hardware/software setup, inventory, imaging, and user onboarding/offboarding Collaborate with internal teams and global IT to support system integrations and data exchange Participate in IT projects, upgrades, and system improvements Document procedures, configurations, and support activities Growth & Development Path Opportunity to take on increasing responsibility in project coordination and system ownership Exposure to budgeting, vendor management, and IT planning processes Mentorship and development toward a future IT Manager role Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience) 4–7 years of hands-on systems administration or desktop support experience Strong experience supporting Windows environments and business IT systems Foundational knowledge of networking and infrastructure Required Skills Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability Effective communication and user support skills Attention to detail and organization Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Preferred Skills Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL) Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV a plus) Exposure to virtualization, networking, or security technologies Interest in leadership and career growth within IT Bilingual (English/German) is a plus Work Location: In person
