About the Opportunity The Senior IT Engineer, Automation is a senior individual contributor role responsible for designing and delivering impactful business process automations within the internal systems ecosystem. This position combines technical development with stakeholder collaboration to solve complex operational problems. The role owns the full automation lifecycle—from discovery through design, implementation, testing, launch, and ongoing maintenance—delivering secure, scalable workflows that support organizational growth and efficiency. Responsibilities Lead intake and clarify automation requirements, translating them into technical scopes. Assess ROI and prioritize high-value automation opportunities. Evaluate feasibility, system dependencies, risks, and impacts early in development. Facilitate discovery sessions to understand existing processes and identify improvements. Model ambiguous processes into clear automation designs collaboratively with stakeholders. Communicate trade-offs between deterministic and agentic/AI-driven approaches. Build detailed automation workflows using platforms like Tines, n8n, and API integrations. Integrate SaaS platforms via REST APIs, webhooks, event triggers, and JSON payloads. Ensure automations meet security, reliability, observability, and governance standards. Rapidly prototype, validate, and refine automation flows for stability and business alignment. Document all build artifacts comprehensively for auditability and maintainability. Coordinate with Engineering for custom API development and technical support. Collaborate with AI specialists on agentic components when applicable. Conduct structured user acceptance testing and manage formal change processes. Own deployment lifecycle including launch, hypercare, tuning, and ongoing optimization. Monitor automation performance and implement improvements to reduce operational burden. Partner cross-functionally to understand workflows, challenges, and impacts. Align with Engineering, Product, Design, and Security teams on integration and risk management. Provide technical consultation on automation feasibility and process adjustments. Contribute to an automation-as-a-service approach with reusable, governed solutions. Requirements Experience designing and building complex workflow automations using tools like Tines or n8n. Strong technical skills in API integration, event-driven systems, and JSON payload handling. Ability to lead discovery and requirements gathering sessions with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of security, auditability, and governance in automation design. Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify and model complex processes. Experience with user acceptance testing and change management procedures. Strong communication skills to explain technical trade-offs and collaborate effectively. Ability to work autonomously and manage full project lifecycle of automation solutions.
