What We Offer The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hiring range for this position is $95,000.00 - $123,000.00/year, based on education and experience. What You’ll Do In Technology Services, our mission is to improve city performance through four basic strategies: Operational Stability, Strategic Growth, Customer Experience and Innovation Acceleration. In this Senior IT Network Engineer role, you will manage, maintain and upgrade all City and County of Denver’s wired and wireless network equipment, ensuring reliability and access for our customers. Responsibilities Monitor Network and Voice hardware - respond to outages and issues as needed while providing regular updates to manager Respond to and resolve network and voice systems outages during business hours and on-call as needed Support the Cisco WebEx Cloud Calling environment Plan, coordinate, and perform IOS upgrades, switch and router replacement following change management procedures Perform vulnerability management, including diagnosing, researching, and remediating Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) Monitor ServiceNow queues - troubleshoot and resolve routine to complex break fix requests, complete assigned tasks while providing customers with regular status updates Perform and interpret packet captures Create detailed change records as needed for network and telephony changes Troubleshoot analog telephony line issues Competence with tools such as toner, cable tester, punch down, butt set, RJ11/RJ45 crimper Collaborate with internal and external customers to identify system problems and provide solutions following best practice and departmental standards Plan and coordinate agency staff moves Identify and recommend process improvements Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with peers, internal and external customers, including vendors Create and maintain network and telephony documentation including knowledge-base articles Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members Other duties as assigned What You’ll Bring We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience: Extensive knowledge and skill in Cisco route / switch Cisco: applicants must demonstrate at least (3) years of in-depth route / switch specific to Cisco Catalyst & Meraki platforms / hardware Knowledge and skill in Cisco Unified Wireless Demonstrate knowledge/skill in configuration and management of the Cisco Unified Wireless platforms including the Cisco Wireless 9800 WLC Controller, LWAP installation, Catalyst Center, and Cisco ISE Effective written and verbal communication skills Experience with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel and Outlook Current CCNA/CCNP certification preferred <
