Job Description Senior Manufacturing Engineer Req ID: 48327 Job Location (s): Newbern, TN, USA Employment Type: Full Time Segment: Danfoss Power Solutions Segment Job Category: R&D, Technology and Engineering Work Location Type: On-site The Impact You'll Make Danfoss Power Solutions – Fluid Conveyance is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support hydraulic hose manufacturing and rubber processing operations. This role serves as a technical leader for process improvement, equipment performance, scrap reduction, safety enhancements, and product quality. The Senior Engineer will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for RMF , lead major equipment projects—including the new rubber mixer and the new calender installation —and provide advanced leadership in process capability. A key responsibility for this senior role includes developing advanced proficiency and ownership of the Mixvision System , ensuring accurate process monitoring, parameter control, data-driven troubleshooting, and long-term stability of RMF and related processes. What You’ll Be Doing Process Engineering & Quality Serve as the RMF Subject Matter Expert, leading optimization of mixing parameters, batch consistency, material dispersion, and process variation. Own and optimize manufacturing processes including rubber compounding, extrusion, reinforcement/braiding, curing, assembly, and testing. Develop and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, Standard Work, and other engineering documentation. Lead structured problem-solving activities (A3, 8D, DMAIC) to eliminate chronic defects and improve first-pass yield. Strengthen process capability, reduce variability, and implement robust error-proofing. Mixvision System Leadership (Senior-Level Responsibility) The Senior Engineer will take system-level ownership of Mixvision and use it as a primary engineering tool. Responsibilities include: Becoming the site technical expert on Mixvision functionality, parameters, data integrity, and troubleshooting. Integrating Mixvision data into daily RMF oversight, capability analysis, and performance monitoring. Leading at least one significant improvement project driven by Mixvision insights. Coaching and mentoring Manufacturing Engineers and technicians on effective Mixvision usage. Ensuring Mixvision is fully leveraged for accuracy, consistency, and process optimization. Throughput, Delivery & Capacity Improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and identify bottlenecks using advanced data analytics. Support production planning and scheduling by eliminating flow constraints and improving material movement. Contribute to stable manufacturing performance to support site delivery and customer service objectives. Scrap, Cost Reduction & Productivity Lead scrap-reduction initiatives, especially in RMF, extrusion, and braiding operations. Implement cost‑out improvements through cycle time reduction, material efficiency, and process redesign. Conduct DOE, engineering studies, and validation trials to confirm improvements. Safety, Compliance & Risk Reduction Implement engineering controls to improve safety, ergonomics, and operator protection. Support timely closure of risk assessments, corrective actions, and hazard mitigation tasks. Partner with EHS to uphold safe operating practices, regulatory compliance, and MOC processes. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Maintenance and third‑party maintenance providers to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. Support NPI and material qualifications using Danfoss PROLaunch methodology. Maintain BOM and routing accuracy with oversight from the Engineering Manager. What We're Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or related technical discipline. 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in rubber, extrusion, plastics, hose, or continuous processing. Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills with machinery such as extruders, braiders, curing systems, and assembly equipment. Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, DOE, and root-cause analysis. Proficiency with CAD, process documentation, and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel). Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Must be authorized to work in the United States without
