Job Description
Company Description Tuchman Law, APC is a boutique transactional law firm and also represents clients in select civil business litigation matters arising out of those relationships. Led by Ari Tuchman, the firm combines the substantive depth of a larger practice with the responsiveness and personal attention of a single-principal firm, emphasizing clear communication, practical guidance, and tailored solutions. Role Description This is a part-time, remote, 1099 contractor role with a flexible, project-based schedule. The Senior Paralegal will support the firm primarily on civil litigation matters — including discovery, law and motion, and trial preparation — with occasional support on transactional work as needed. Responsibilities include drafting and finalizing pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and declarations; preparing and e-filing documents with California state courts; calendaring deadlines under the California Code of Civil Procedure and applicable local rules; assisting with document review and exhibit preparation; coordinating with opposing counsel, court clerks, and vendors; and maintaining accurate, well-organized matter files. Qualifications Minimum 7 years of senior-level paralegal experience, with substantial work in California civil litigation Certified Paralegal (i.e., in accordance with California Business & Professions Code § 6450 or functional equivalent) — required Demonstrated proficiency across the litigation lifecycle: discovery (written discovery, subpoenas, document productions), law and motion practice, deposition preparation, and trial preparation Working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure, California Rules of Court, and Los Angeles Superior Court local rules Experience e-filing with California state courts (One Legal or comparable platform) Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, including document management, version control, and secure file handling Strong legal research and writing skills; meticulous attention to detail in cite-checking, formatting, and proofreading Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple matters in a flexible, project-based engagement Self-directed and reliable in a remote work environment, with strong written and verbal communication skills Some exposure to transactional matters (entity formation, contracts, real estate, or M&A due diligence) is a plus but not required. Engagement & Compensation Independent contractor (1099). Compensation commensurate with experience.
