NIC Partners is in search of a Senior Project Manager to lead our projects in Northern California. Position Summary The Sr. PM will lead low-voltage and physical security construction projects across our Northern California SLED (State, Local, and Education) accounts. This role owns project execution from kickoff through closeout — scope, schedule, budget, subcontractors, customer communication, and quality. Travel Requirements Initial Training: Minimum two (2) weeks onsite in Southern California at the start of employment. We'll cover travel and lodging and fly the candidate home on weekends. Ongoing: Periodic travel to Southern California as needed for unity meetings , leadership syncs, and key project milestones. Work Schedule / Onsite Expectations Because the majority of our work is in K–12 and higher education environments , this PM will spend roughly 30–40% of their time onsite after school hours (typically late afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends) to minimize disruption to students and staff. Ideal Candidate Profile Project Management Background 7+ years managing construction-style, low-voltage installation projects end-to-end. Comfortable running multiple concurrent projects, managing field crews and subcontractors, and owning P&L at the project level. Hands-on experience with estimating and scoping — able to walk a site, read drawings, and produce or validate a take-off. Prior SLED experience strongly preferred (school districts, community colleges, municipalities, county/state agencies). Familiarity with prevailing wage, DIR, DSA processes, bond-funded work, and public-sector procurement is a major plus. Technical Domain Experience (the more of these, the better) Cloud-based video surveillance systems (Verkada, Avigilon, Genetec, Eagle Eye, Rhombus, or similar) Structured network cabling — Cat 6/6A copper and fiber optic (single-mode and multi-mode), termination, testing, and certification Route/switch installation and configuration (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, or comparable) Fiber infrastructure — backbone, OSP/ISP, splicing coordination Access control systems (Verkada, Genetec, Avigilon, LenelS2, Brivo, Openpath, or similar) Visitor management platforms (Raptor, Verkada Guest, HID, etc.) Environmental / IoT sensors (vape, sound, occupancy, air quality — Verkada, HALO, etc.) Software & Tools Strong proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite — Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint. Comfortable with construction PM platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar) and estimating tools. Soft Skills / Other Polished customer-facing communication — this PM will interface directly with district IT directors, facilities leads, GCs, and architects. Self-directed; able to operate from a Northern CA home base while staying tightly aligned with the Southern California leadership team.
