United StatesSuitability/Public TrustFully remoteInformation TechnologyOverviewGovCIO is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer (Web Developer III) to lead UX strategy, design execution, and research-driven improvements across enterprise-level VA applications. This remote-only role mentors junior designers, leads research initiatives, ensures 508 accessibility, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact Veteran-centered experiences.ResponsibilitiesDesign Leadership & • StrategyLead complex UX initiatives across multiple VA systems and product lines.Mentor junior and mid-level designers, providing feedback and guidance.Drive alignment on UX strategy with stakeholders and product leadership.Advanced UI/UX Design & • PrototypingCreate advanced prototypes, workflows, and interaction models using Figma.Define scalable patterns aligned with VA design standards and engineering constraints.Review and approve UI deliverables for quality and consistency.User Research & • Usability LeadershipPlan and lead Veteran-centered research studies and usability evaluations.Synthesize findings into actionable design insights and product recommendations.Advise teams on research methods, data interpretation, and best practices.Accessibility & • Design System GovernanceEnsure all solutions meet Section 508/WCAG standards.Influence design system evolution and adoption across teams.Contribute accessibility expertise to reviews and implementation discussions.AI-Enabled UX InnovationExplore responsible use of AI tools to enhance workflow analysis and research synthesis.Validate AI outputs with user testing and alignment to accessibility.Identify opportunities where AI can improve complex Veteran workflows.Cross-Functional Collaboration & • Agile DeliveryPartner closely with engineering, product, and program leadership.Advise on feature feasibility, prioritization, and UX impact during planning.Lead design critiques, sprint reviews, and collaborative workshops.QualificationsRequired Skills and ExperienceBachelor's degree with 8+ years of UX/UI experience or commensurate experienceExpert proficiency in Figma, prototyping, and complex UX workflows.Demonstrated experience leading research, testing, and UX strategy.Deep knowledge of Section 508/WCAG accessibility and compliance.Experience collaborating with senior stakeholders and engineering teams.Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.Preferred Skills and ExperienceExperience working with VA or other Federal agencies.Familiarity with complex Veteran-facing systems and policy-driven workflows.Experience contributing to or governing design systems.Experience evaluating and responsibly integrating AI-enabled tools.Clearance RequiredMust be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearancePosted Salary RangeUSD $81,850.00 - USD $130,950.00 /Yr.Employee PerksEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Corporate DiscountsLearning & • Development platform, to include certification preparation contentTraining, Education and Certification AssistanceReferral Bonus ProgramInternal Mobility ProgramPet InsuranceFlexible Work EnvironmentAvailable to full-time employeesWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
