Job Description
Duties: Responsible for the complete underwriting process – risk selection, evaluation/analysis, pricing, negotiation and sale of Commercial risks, including overall account management. Is accountable for managing the assigned agency force, with a focus on new business production and growth, renewal retention, as well as on fostering agency relationships through sales and marketing efforts. Handles larger, more difficult and complex agency accounts. This role requires independent judgment, strong underwriting acumen, discretion, and contributions to strategic business decisions. Trains and mentors entry level Underwriters and agency staff, as assigned. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 3 years commercial lines property and casualty underwriting technical experience required; previous sales experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and job-related experience will be considered. Continuing education in insurance and job-related issues and subjects required. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Hawaii Driver’s license. Attainment of or working toward CPCU or other professional designation(s) preferred.
