SUMMARY The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations during the shift, including cleaning plant processes, load-out operations, and supervising warehouse attendants. This role ensures operational efficiency, adherence to safety protocols, and the timely shipment of products. The Shift Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a safe and productive work environment while fostering communication and collaboration between shifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes the following and other duties may be assigned.) Lead and coordinate the activities of the shift team, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to daily schedules. Oversee cleaning plant operations to maintain equipment functionality and meet quality standards. Manage load-out operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of product shipment. Supervise and mentor warehouse attendants, promoting teamwork and productivity. Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs or potential hazards. Assist in inventory management. Communicate effectively with other shifts to ensure seamless transitions and operational efficiency. Providing a high level of customer service. Adherence to safety policies and providing safety leadership. Maintaining a clean and attractive workplace. Reporting opportunities for increased sales and improved efficiencies in operations of the location to the Location Manager. Promoting and adhering to the company Core Values of honesty, integrity & teamwork. Adhering to cooperative credit policy. Securing facilities and equipment when closing. Promptly and regularly report to work and work overtime hours as needed. Present a clean and professional appearance. Employee is required to perform all other duties as directed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises the Warehouse Attendants at the location(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Previous experience related to grain, feed, fertilizer, chemicals and/or farms supplies is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of the cooperative. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and weights. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS This position does not require certificates, licenses and/or registration. REASONING ABILITY The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations. Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation and labeling.
