Hiring Shipfitters in San Diego Labor One is hiring Journeyman Shipfitters in San Diego, California. Expected Long-Term Project. Competitive Pay. $160 per diem for those who are eligible. Housing Assistance. Job Requirements: 3-5 years of recent shipyard experience. Must be able to work any shift and overtime, if required. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be DBIDS eligible. Must be able to pass a drug screen. Shipfitter Knowledge: Welding, tacking, burning and scarfing. Must pass the following Shipfitter Welding Assessment: FCAW. Fillet weld plates: 2F 3F 4F (VT test). Fillet testing shall take 1-2 hours. T Bar 12X4” 3/8” thick: ·2F 3F 4F (VT and Fracture test ). This takes average ship fitter of 1-2 days. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English). Must be able to hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.
