Job Description
We are looking for a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to support daily logistics, inventory handling, and material movement operations for a client of ours in Rosemont. This contract opportunity with the potential to become permanent is ideal for someone who is organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable coordinating both inbound and outbound shipments in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will help keep shipping, receiving, and inventory processes running smoothly while working closely with the shipping and receiving lead and reporting to the Facilities Manager. Responsibilities Coordinate carrier pickups based on customer order instructions and prepare outbound shipments to meet required timelines. Package, label, and process parcels and freight for internal departments, tenant organizations, and external office locations. Prepare bills of lading and complete carrier documentation accurately while following shipping compliance requirements. Maintain stock of shipping supplies and organize materials needed for daily packing and distribution activities. Receive incoming goods, verify deliveries, distribute materials to the appropriate requestors, and record receipts. Secure outbound freight by palletizing, banding, shrink wrapping, or coordinating crating services when specialized packaging is needed. Inspect and accept sensitive deliveries such as hazardous materials, biohazard samples, gas cylinders, and gas samples, confirming items are undamaged and safe before sign-off. Monitor designated dock and storage areas to ensure cylinders and other regulated materials are stored correctly and safely. Experience in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or warehouse operations. Working knowledge of shipping paperwork, including bills of lading and carrier-related documentation. Ability to operate material handling equipment such as a forklift and pallet jack safely and effectively. Familiarity with inventory tracking and order processing systems. Comfortable handling freight, packages, and regulated materials while following safety procedures. Strong attention to detail with the ability to inspect incoming and outgoing items for accuracy and condition. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with operations, facilities, and logistics contacts. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
