Job Description
American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 400+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the1st Shift Shipping /Receiving Clerk positionin our Circleville, OH facility. OVERALL OBJECTIVE: The Shipping/ Receiving Clerk will be responsible to coordinate daily shipping/logistics activities for the Circleville operations to satisfy all customer and supplier requirements. Primary duties to include but are not limited, to the following: CUSTOMER SERVICE Works closely and effectively communicates with Office Personnel and Operations to exceed customer expectations e.g. collaborate with other departments and develop positive relationships with customers, suppliers, employees, and carriers. Provides and maintains excellent customer service. Ensures customers and employees are highly regarded and receive exceptional service throughout all job responsibilities. WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS Monitors, troubleshoots, and provides timely resolution on delivery exceptions daily rectifying issues with transit such as delivery times, shortages, and non conformance. Accurate processing of documents as per Specific Customer Requirements (shipping instructions, Bills of Lading, Shipping Labels, Canadian Documents etc.). Reviews and ensures completeness for all shipping paperwork and activities. Ensures that materials are on-hand for all current and upcoming shipment needs (Inventory Control). Also, works with the shipping personnel to process Restacks/Rework Inventory. Supports and trains shipping personnel. Review daily shipping schedule, monitor incoming orders to ensure that we can meet the inventory needs as booked and awarded based on customer needs and expectations. Support to outside AWF Sales Representatives. This includes but not limited to shipment coordination of sample products to potential customers, tracking and maintaining proper sample inventory levels on-site, and other sales support activities as assigned. Provide assistance to Office Personnel associated with month-end inventory controls and record keeping activities. MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATION Use of mobile equipment in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner. Duties will include operation of forklift or front end loader to load or remove material from company or customer-owned trailers. May be asked to operate yard jockey to place trailers on/off the dock. QUALITY Maintains and verifies that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to supervisors, production employees, truck drivers, office personnel, and customers. Assists in the design and implementation of new procedures as needed. Other ACTIVITIES Attends and participates in a monthly safety meeting. Establishes personal growth and works with fellow employees towards continuous improvement and teamwork. Assists the supervisor and office personnel as necessary. Other duties and projects as assigned. Will also serve as back-up for Logistics Coordinator. Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 25 to 40 lbs. QUALIFICATIONS: H.S. Diploma with 2+ years of work experience within Customer Service, Warehouse Logistics and Inventory Control. Requires understanding of logistics transactions, processes, and documentation. Must have a customer-centric orientation with all contacts and able to professionally and promptly respond to email and phone inquiries. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and ability to quickly learn company business systems; excellent computer skills. Able to work in a flexible, ever-changing environment with ongoing interruptions. Strong numerical and time management skills with attention to detail.
