Job Description
Shipping & Receiving Associate The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for accurately and efficiently completing all inbound and outbound shipping documentation. This role works closely with warehouse personnel to generate pull orders, prepare shipping labels, and ensure the smooth flow of goods through the facility. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitor driver check-in process, complete arrival documentation, assign dock doors, and apply trailer seals (glad locks) as required. Verify that all drivers arrive and depart with the correct and complete shipping paperwork. Account for all sealed trailers upon both arrival and departure to ensure shipment integrity. Assemble orders and prepare goods for both incoming and outgoing shipments. Record shipment data including weight, charges, and available space. Coordinate and manage the receiving schedule for inbound vendor shipments. Identify, document, and report any damages or discrepancies for accounting and record-keeping purposes. Prepare and complete shipping and receiving reports in a timely and accurate manner. Generate accurate Bills of Lading (BOLs) for outbound freight using the Warehouse Management System (WMS). Ensure drivers depart with all required documentation. Maintain compliance with sanitation and safety standards in accordance with SQF (Safe Quality Food) requirements. Follow all transportation policies, safety procedures, and applicable government regulations. Participate in safety stand-down meetings following any safety incident. Support operational needs during peak periods and when “all hands-on deck” assistance is required. Audit warehouse supply inventory and provide weekly updates and needs to the Warehouse Manager. Serve as a liaison between warehouse operations and office administration. Provide operational coverage on holidays as scheduled. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required Experience 1–2 years of warehouse experience preferred Forklift experience required Communication Skills Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and internal staff Computer Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with spreadsheets and warehouse or database systems preferred Other Requirements Strong attendance and reliability record Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to work overtime as needed Working Conditions This position is based in a cold storage warehouse environment, with temperatures that may reach as low as -10°F for extended periods of time.
