Job Description
JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for the planning, organizing and monitoring of the shipping, receiving, material handling & outsourcing of product. Supervises workers who confirm and record and the receipt of goods, materials & services, outsourced product, prepare product for shipping, loading and unloading of trucks. Supervises Miller dock duties. Also responsible for managing the transport of materials utilizing Alacriant truck. Ensure that our focus remains on servicing the customer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Verify and document all receipts of all incoming materials, goods and service, including Steel Viking transactions at Crane facility. Verify counts and identification of all inbound and outbound shipments. Receive product into ERP system and use tow motor/pallet jacks to put product into storage locations. Ensure that deliveries are loaded packaged correctly, billed out and leave the facility in a timely manner to meet customer requirements. Schedule method of transportation for outbound shipments to vendors based on mandated routing instructions, internal direction. Supports outbound trucking, packaging and scheduling. Generate and complete all packing lists, labels, and bill of ladings required to comply with Alacriant requirements and internal standards and all outbound shipments. Make sure all paperwork is complete and accurate. Strong communication with internal customers/ external vendors. Knowledge of efficient truck loading procedures and proper material handling techniques as well as instructional skills. Perform light Quality Control to ensure that products are going to the correct areas. Performing general cleanup and maintenance of your work area. Communicate in advance any potential outbound shipment shortages to planning. Distribute materials to appropriate departments. Ensure safe storage of finished goods to prevent damage and loss Verify maintenance record of equipment associated with the department. Report on the receipt of and/or damage of any received materials. Observe and Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities. Identify and provide solutions to department performance and systemic issues. Serve as a backup to shipping/receiving paperwork functions at Miller. Communicate with internal plants about parts needed for shipments. Any additional duties as assigned by management for needs of the department or business. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervise material handlers performing shipping, receiving and warehousing functions. Provide On-the-Job Training for the personnel within the department. Supervise Steel Viking transactions performed by shipping and receiving team Miller. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associates degree or equivalent OR a combination of experience and education. Experience: Two years of shipping/receiving/warehousing experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, MRP/ERP, Basic PC skills Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift License, Crane operator license PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
