Shop Mechanic

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems and demonstrate expertise in diagnosing and repairing various types of machinery and equipment. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards. Knowledge of steam locomotives is desirable but not required. Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical issues using appropriate tools and techniques. Perform repairs and maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance. Utilize an Ohmmeter and other diagnostic tools to assess electrical systems. Collaborate with team members to identify areas for improvement in machinery operation. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed. Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in mechanical technology. Qualifications Proven experience as a Mechanic or in a similar role is preferred. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, including an Ohmmeter. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify issues quickly. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and management.
