Join our dynamic educational team as a SHSAT and SAT Math Teacher, where your passion for teaching and student success will inspire the next generation of scholars. In this role, you will deliver engaging, effective instruction tailored to students preparing for high-stakes standardized math exams. This is a long-term position, and we are looking for committed educators who are reliable, consistent, and interested in growing with our program over time. You must come to the building site at 143-30 Cherry Ave, Flushing, NY 11355 in person. Transportation will be your responsibility. During the school year, the hours are 3:00–6:00 pm on Mondays–Fridays and 9:30 am–5:00 pm on Saturdays . Our summer schedule begins on 7/6 , with required hours of Monday–Thursday, 9:30 am–5:00 pm . For candidates who live farther away, weekday school-year hours (Monday–Friday) may be flexible or exempt depending on availability. However, Saturday attendance and summer program participation are required . Candidates located closer to the Flushing area are strongly preferred due to scheduling consistency and long-term reliability. You will be paid in cash every 2 weeks. Your expertise will help students build confidence, master key mathematical concepts, and achieve their academic goals through innovative teaching methods and personalized support. Responsibilities Teach SHSAT and SAT Math classes in person at 143-30 Cherry Ave, Flushing, NY 11355. Maintain a strong long-term commitment to the program and student development. School-year schedule: 3:00–6:00 pm Mondays–Fridays and 9:30 am–5:00 pm Saturdays. Summer schedule starting 7/6: Monday–Thursday, 9:30 am–5:00 pm. Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with SHSAT and SAT Math standards. Deliver engaging classroom instruction that caters to diverse learning styles, utilizing various teaching tools and technology to enhance understanding. Assess student progress regularly through quizzes, practice tests, and formative assessments; adjust instruction accordingly to maximize learning outcomes. Manage classroom environments effectively by maintaining discipline, encouraging participation, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Incorporate curriculum development strategies to continuously improve lesson content and delivery methods based on student feedback and educational best practices. Provide targeted tutoring support to students needing extra assistance in specific math concepts or test-taking strategies. Maintain detailed records of student attendance, performance, and progress reports; communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student development. Skills Proven experience working with students in classroom settings, preferably with experience in SHSAT or SAT Math preparation. Strong knowledge of algebra, geometry, arithmetic, word problems, and standardized test-taking strategies. Excellent presentation skills with the ability to explain complex mathematical topics clearly and engagingly. Skilled in classroom management techniques that promote focus and respectful behavior among diverse learners. Familiarity with learning technology platforms and digital tools used for lesson planning, assessment, and interactive instruction. Ability to develop curriculum tailored to individual student needs while adhering to standardized testing standards. Experience working with special education students or those requiring additional academic support is a plus. Strong organizational and communication skills for creating instructional materials, assessments, and progress reports.
