Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.A full-time opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Arroyo Grande, CA, with service areas including Pismo Beach, Santa Maria, and Edna.This contract position offers a dynamic environment where you will facilitate communication for students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have equal access to the educational curriculum.Key Responsibilities:Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school events.Collaborate with teachers, students, and support staff to provide effective communication support tailored to individual student needs.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while upholding ethical standards in educational interpreting.Assist in fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and student success.Qualifications:Valid California Sign Language Interpreter credential, such as a California Communication Access Specialist or equivalent certification.Experience working with children across K-12 grade levels in an educational setting is preferred.Strong knowledge of ASL and current interpreting practices.Ability to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) during the 2026-2027 school year.Clear understanding of educational terminology and disabilities related to hearing impairments.Location:Primary work location is Arroyo Grande, CA.Service areas include Pismo Beach, Santa Maria, and Edna, California.Benefits:Engage in meaningful work that directly impacts student success and accessibility.Contract role with professional development opportunities in educational interpreting.Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply promptly to support students in this rewarding role.Submit your application today to contribute to an inclusive and accessible educational environment.Compensation for this position ranges from $15.61 to $60.00.Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here.This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.#p31.
