Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.This full-time contract opportunity is for Sign Language Interpreters at a school location in Durham, CA, supporting elementary and intermediate students.The role is onsite only, with approximately 30 hours per week (around 6 hours daily) until May 28, 2026.Candidates will facilitate communication between deaf and hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers, classroom teachers, and other school personnel to promote an inclusive educational environment.Key Responsibilities:Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting services in academic settings.Assist students in core subjects such as reading, writing, and math.Support students with vocational and living skills development.Monitor students during classroom, outdoor, or community activities.Work collaboratively with educators and staff to meet student needs.Qualifications and Desired Experience:Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) OR a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments.Candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 may be considered and referred as ASL Paras.Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and an Associate's degree are also considered.Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students in educational environments.Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively support students' academic and social development.Location:Onsite in Durham, California.Benefits:Gain valuable experience in a supportive school setting.Work with diverse student populations across elementary and intermediate levels.Opportunity to develop specialized skills in educational sign language interpreting.Qualified candidates interested in this educational interpreting contract are encouraged to apply promptly to contribute to an inclusive learning community.Compensation for this position ranges from $29.69 to $49.69.Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here.This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.#p31.
