EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support state-wide initiatives. BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) Hours: 3:15 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. plus approx. 1 hour off site planning time daily Located in Vogel Wetmore School, Torrington, CT Job Description EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program at Vogel Wetmore School,Torrington, CT. The qualified candidate will be professional, working toward or already possess a minimum of 3 college credits in elementary education or Early Childhood Education, have experience working with elementary school-aged children, or have the ability to complete the Office of Early Childhood Head Teacher Certification Course (approx. 45 hours online), and have 240 working hours experience with children. Candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to supervise staff and be available during after-school hours (3:15 pm-6:00 pm). The Site Coordinator works under the supervision of the BASES Administrative Team. Major Responsibilities Coordinate the daily operation of the after-school program Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment Understand, follow and maintain all licensing regulations set by the state of CT Office of Early Childhood Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel Maintain student registration system and paperwork Daily set up and clean up of program site Attend mandatory Site Coordinator and Staff meetings as scheduled (usually evenings) First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire Other duties as may be assigned Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position Qualifications Must have a miniumum of 3 credits in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education and 240 working hours with children OR complete the OEC Head Teacher Certification course online (approx 45 hrs) and have 240 working hours experince with children. Must be present 5 days a week and/or 80% of the hours the site is in operation. Working towards or possess a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or a related field (i.e. social work, education, psychology) At least 240 hours experience working with Elementary School Aged Children Knowledge of Child Development Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
