Job Description
Social Media Coordinator (Volunteer Committee Position) The Beaverton Downtown Association is seeking a creative and community-minded volunteer to serve as a Social Media Coordinator as part of the Downtown Promotions Committee. This role helps tell the story of Downtown Beaverton through engaging social media content, event promotion, photography/video, and business spotlights that showcase the people, places, and experiences that make Downtown unique. Position Overview The Social Media Coordinator will work closely with the Promotions Committee, Board members, volunteers, local businesses, and event teams to help grow awareness of Downtown Beaverton initiatives, events, and businesses across digital platforms. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in marketing, communications, content creation, community engagement, photography, public relations, or nonprofit experience. Responsibilities Create and schedule social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok Promote Downtown events, programs, volunteer opportunities, and local businesses Assist with content creation including photos, videos, reels, graphics, and captions Help maintain a consistent Downtown Beaverton brand voice and visual identity Attend select BDA events to capture content and engage with the community Collaborate with local businesses and committee members on promotional campaigns Assist with business spotlights, event recaps, and storytelling content Track engagement and help identify opportunities to grow reach and visibility Ideal Skills & Interests We welcome volunteers of all experience levels, especially those with interests in: Social media marketing Photography or videography Graphic design Writing and storytelling Event promotion Community engagement Small business support Experience with Canva, Instagram Reels, Facebook Events, or content scheduling tools is helpful but not required. Volunteer Expectations Attend monthly Promotions Committee meetings Contribute approximately 2–5 volunteer hours per month Participate in at least one Downtown event or promotional campaign annually Work collaboratively and positively with community members and businesses About the Promotions Committee The Promotions Committee works to position Downtown Beaverton as a vibrant, welcoming, and active destination by creating marketing campaigns, events, storytelling initiatives, and community partnerships that support local businesses and enhance Downtown’s identity.
