Social Studies Teacher

RIVERVALLEYSCHOOL DISTRICT INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING Position: Social Studies Teacher Location: River Valley Middle High School Compensation: According to the negotiated Master Agreement with the River Valley Education Association. Job Summary: To plan, organize and implement a middle high school classroom learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. To promote and encourage positive relationships with students, parents and staff members. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. Courses to be taught - Middle School Social Studies Qualifications and other requirements - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Has a valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate, a major in Social Studies, and the following required endorsement(s): RX (Social Studies 6-12) or CX (Social Studies 6-12), CC (History 6-12). Additional endorsements preferred, but not required: CE (Psychology), CA (Economics), CB (Geography), CD (Political Science), CF (Sociology) - or the willingness to obtain. Ability to teach Advanced Placement (AP - College Board) courses - or the willingness to obtain. Meets highly qualified status for the assignment as required by NCLB. Willingness to be involved in supervisory Schedule B positions. Has demonstrated experience in working with middle high school level students. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. <
