About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Development and Technology Expert to join our remote team, primarily serving North Carolina. This role provides strategic technical guidance on large-scale, complex projects that significantly impact our Digital Solutions and Direct Bank Technology teams. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, facilitating the creation, evaluation, and implementation of innovative software systems and integrations. They will serve as the primary point of contact with third-party vendors, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with the bank’s long-term technological vision. The role demands a proactive approach to technology trends, mentorship capabilities, and a deep understanding of software development practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the bank’s technological landscape and contribute to strategic initiatives that support business growth and digital transformation. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and 10 years of experience in software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED with 14 years of experience in software application development and maintenance Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, with a focus on Computer Science or related disciplines. Experience in the Financial Services Industry is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level knowledge and experience with a broad range of technologies, including Java/JavaEE ecosystems, modern front-end frameworks, cloud platforms, containerization, DevOps practices, database management, data integration tools, messaging systems, data analytics, enterprise architecture, microservices, API management, security protocols, and agile methodologies. Responsibilities Facilitate software development activities by creating utilities and tools that support effective development processes and solutions. Evaluate software specifications to determine feasibility within existing infrastructure, analyzing, presenting, and implementing necessary infrastructure or development changes. Maintain a strong knowledge of current technology trends and assess their impact on the bank’s infrastructure, providing relevant consultative guidance to teams and management. Mentor and train team members on emerging technologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Provide expert technical advice and direction to associates, management, and project teams to develop solutions for complex technical problems. Advise on strategies that align development projects with the bank’s long-term business goals and technological roadmap. Assist in the implementation of strategic initiatives across divisions, ensuring alignment with technological and business objectives. Participate in architecture design, system integration, and solution development to support scalable and secure banking applications. Lead code reviews, architectural guidance, and technical mentorship to ensure best practices and high-quality deliverables. Support Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, to facilitate efficient project delivery and team collaboration.
