About The Role Skimmer is seeking a talented technical leader for its Payments and Finance Development team. This role involves leading a small team of developers while actively contributing to code development to enhance the platform's financial operations, including credit card processing, payment gateways, and integration with accounting systems like QuickBooks Online. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security, reliability, and compliance of all financial systems within the platform. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence key financial processes, improve system integrations, and implement best practices in payment security and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with API-based integrations, particularly with Stripe and finance systems, and will leverage AI tools to optimize team productivity and code quality. This role is vital in maintaining the integrity and performance of Skimmer’s financial ecosystem, directly contributing to the company's mission of modernizing the industry and delivering exceptional value to its customers. Qualifications Proven experience in technical leadership or player/coach roles within SaaS startups Extensive hands-on expertise with API integrations, especially in credit card processing and financial systems Deep knowledge of Stripe credit card processing and payment gateways Experience integrating with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar Proficiency in developing and maintaining secure APIs and financial systems Strong understanding of PCI DSS compliance and data security protocols Proficiency in C# and Microsoft SQL Experience leveraging AI tools (preferably Claude) to enhance development productivity Solid understanding of tax, accounting, and payment compliance regulations Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills High emotional intelligence and ability to lead diverse teams effectively Responsibilities Lead and mentor a small team of developers, acting as a player/coach to ensure technical excellence and team growth Serve as the internal expert on Skimmer's payments and finance systems, including Stripe credit card processing Drive the integration and ongoing maintenance of financial and accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online Develop, implement, and maintain secure, reliable APIs for all payment and financial functionalities Oversee security and compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to PCI DSS standards Collaborate with Product, Finance, Customer Success, and Support teams to align technical solutions with business needs Utilize AI tools and best practices to maximize team productivity and code quality Participate in vendor selection for payment gateways and financial solutions Lead initiatives to upgrade or migrate core payment processing systems, including Stripe API enhancements Review and improve PCI compliance posture and data security protocols within the platform Benefits Competitive base salary with bonus potential Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, with 100% premium coverage for employees and 50% for dependents Immediate access to a 401(k) plan with company matching Flexible paid time off (minimum of 10 days annually) Paid parental leave: 12 weeks for birthing parents, 6 weeks for supporting partners Remote work flexibility to support work-life balance Dedicated learning and development budget to support your growth Supportive management focused on your professional development Inclusive, diverse workplace committed to equal opportunity employment Equal Opportunity At Skimmer, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
