About the job Prox is a fast-growing grocery savings startup helping shoppers save money by making smarter grocery decisions. We’re building tools that make it easier for consumers to save on the products they already buy, and we’re looking for a Software Engineering Intern focused on Mobile App Development and Front-End Engineering to join our team. About the Role This is an unpaid internship , ideal for students or early-career engineers looking to gain hands-on experience building, improving, and deploying real product features in a startup environment. You will work directly with the founder and help build new front-end features for the Prox mobile app. You will also support mobile deployment work, including improving our existing app experience and helping expand Prox to Android through the Google Play Store. Responsibilities Build and improve front-end features within the Prox mobile app. Help turn product ideas, designs, and user feedback into working app functionality. Support mobile app deployment workflows, including testing, release preparation, and app store readiness. Help expand Prox’s mobile presence, including supporting Android and Google Play Store launch efforts. Improve app usability, responsiveness, navigation, and overall user experience. Collaborate directly with the founder on product direction, feature prioritization, and technical execution. Debug front-end issues and help improve app reliability, performance, and polish. Gain exposure to real-world startup engineering, mobile app development, and product iteration. Qualifications Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals and modern front-end development workflows. Interest in mobile app development, consumer apps, and startup product development. Comfort working with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, React Native, Capacitor, or similar front-end/mobile technologies. Ability to learn quickly, communicate clearly, and take ownership of assigned projects. Ability to commit approximately 20–40 hours per week , with flexibility around school schedules. Required Skills Strong interest in front-end engineering and mobile app development. Comfort building user-facing product features. Ability to work independently and solve problems in a fast-moving environment. Willingness to learn new tools, frameworks, and deployment workflows. Clear communication and strong attention to detail. Preferred Skills Experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, React Native, Capacitor, Vite, Tailwind, or mobile app frameworks is a plus. Experience with iOS, Android, TestFlight, Google Play Console, App Store Connect, or mobile deployment workflows is a plus. Interest in consumer technology, grocery savings, fintech, marketplaces, or shopping apps is a plus. Experience building school projects, startup projects, personal apps, or shipped features is a plus. Pay range and compensation package This is an unpaid internship .
