About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist in Software Engineering to join our dynamic team in Waco, TX. This role is pivotal in developing and enhancing software solutions that support our strategic objectives and operational excellence. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain critical software applications, ensuring they meet rigorous security and performance standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical projects within a fast-paced environment, contributing to national security and technological innovation. The Senior Specialist will also play a key role in ensuring compliance with DoD security standards and best practices in cybersecurity. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, coupled with a minimum of six years of relevant experience. Candidates with a Graduate Degree should have at least four years of experience, while those without a degree must demonstrate a minimum of ten years of applicable work history. Proven experience in software development within the Department of Defense (DoD) industry is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or similar. Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance are required. Flexibility to travel domestically and work extended hours as needed is also necessary. Responsibilities Develop, enhance, and maintain secure software applications aligned with organizational and security standards. Implement Linux cybersecurity practices, including SELinux (MAC), DAC configuration, auditing, integrity monitoring (fapolicyd), iptables, and systemd services such as seccomp. Utilize automation tools like the SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC) and adhere to Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) practices to ensure compliance with DoD security standards. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to integrate new features and functionalities into existing systems. Participate in project planning, design specification reviews, and system performance improvements. Conduct thorough code reviews, write comprehensive unit tests, and document software implementations to uphold high-quality development standards. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues within existing software applications, aiming to enhance user experience and system reliability. Stay informed on emerging industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to continuously improve software solutions.
