Job Number: R0237921 Software Systems Engineer The Opportunity: Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your technical leadership and software engineering expertise to shape the future of national security SATCOM? Do you understand complex mission environments, evolving requirements, and how software must integrate across ground, space, and cyber domains? Your ability to translate user needs into technical requirements, interface definitions, and DevSecOps aligned solutions makes you an essential part of delivering resilient SATCOM capabilities. As a Software Systems Engineer on our Strategic SATCOM team, you’ll help the U.S. Space Force build and modernize critical systems that enable global communications and decision superiority. You’ll manage software requirements, evaluate software and associated deliverables, drive modernization strategies, and guide development teams toward secure and scalable solutions. You’ll lead working groups, evaluate technology options, and deliver recommendations to government decision makers. You’ll collaborate with software developers, cyber engineers, SATCOM operators, systems engineers, and acquisition leads to ensure the software remains aligned with mission needs and integrates effectively with the broader SATCOM enterprise. You Have: 7+ years of experience in software engineering 5+ years of experience with SATCOM, space systems, ground systems, or C2 software Experience developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs), service decompositions, and API definitions Experience designing cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers, and CI/CD pipelines Experience aligning architecture with cybersecurity frameworks, such as RMF, NIST 800-53, or ASD STIG Experience working in Agile environments or SAFe Knowledge of secure coding and Zero Trust-aligned design principles Secret clearance Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering Nice If You Have: Experience developing system or software architectures using UML, SysML, DoDAF, UPDM, or UAF Experience on the Software Acquisition Pathway Experience supporting MILSATCOM programs, Protected Tactical SATCOM (PTS), or DoD systems Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or Sparx EA Experience integrating AI/ML or automation into enterprise software systems Knowledge of acquisition processes, technical baselines, configuration control, and systems integration Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to varied audiences TS/SCI clearance Master's degree Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required. Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
